Soil, Seeds, & Starting Strong Workshop
Building the Foundation for a Healthy Garden
A thriving garden starts below the surface.
Soil, Seeds, & Starting Strong is the second workshop in our Beginner Gardener Workshop Series, and it’s where intention meets action. In this hands-on session, we’ll move from planning into practice—learning the basics of soil health and seed starting while actually starting seeds together in the teaching garden.
This workshop is designed to help beginner gardeners understand why soil matters, how seeds grow, and what plants need in their earliest stages—without overwhelming science or complicated systems. You’ll learn simple, practical principles you can apply immediately, whether you’re growing in containers, raised beds, grow bags, or in-ground.
Together, we’ll explore soil basics, talk through common seed-starting questions, and guide you step-by-step through starting your own seeds—so you leave feeling confident, capable, and ready to grow.
As with all sessions in this series, this workshop is intentionally kept small to support meaningful learning, hands-on exploration, and individualized guidance. You’ll have time to ask questions, observe, and connect what you’re learning directly to your own garden space.
After participating in this in-person experience, attendees will be able to start seeds successfully at home and make informed choices about soil, setting their gardens up for strong, healthy growth from the very beginning.
Perfect for new gardeners, busy parents, and anyone who wants to build a solid foundation without overcomplicating the process.
